Six Pack Aero is now a dealer for Dynon Certified Avionics and has been authorized to offer preinstalled and configured SkyView HDX packages for Cessna 172 E through M models alongside the Legacy XL Stationary Panel Kit.

Cessna 172 E through M models will not fit a 10″ Primary Flight Display (PFD) in the stock stationary panel without considerable alteration that could potentially affect the structure of the aircraft. The Legacy XL Stationary Panel enables the ability for 10″ PFD installation on the pilot side and 7″ MFD installation on the co-pilot side of the aircraft, with a more open and easily upgradable center radio stack. The Legacy XL Stationary Panel is an STC/PMA approved replacement stationary panel that opens up the space that owners have to install avionics without compromising the structure of the aircraft.

To provide a quality, complete package to customers, Six Pack Aero is now a dealer for Dynon Certified Avionics and can provide Dynon SkyView HDX systems prewired and installed in the Legacy XL Stationary Panel, providing a cost and time savings from the end-installing A&P/IA.

Iowa Lakes Community College has committed to installing Six Pack Aero’s Legacy XL Stationary Panel Kits in their fleet of Cessna 172s. The college’s aviation program is based at its Estherville, Iowa, campus. The program offers an associate in applied science degree as well as a full range of FAA licenses and ratings. Its flight training fleet includes 9 Cessna 172Ms, one Cessna 172L and one Cessna 172K, which are currently undergoing an upgrade from steam gauges to a full Dynon “glass cockpit” with the 10″ Skyview HDX and the 7″ Skyview HDX.

Iowa Lakes’ Director of Aviation Programs and Chief Flight Instruction, Tim Busch, commented on the college’s decision to upgrade the fleet. “[The Legacy XL Stationary Panel Kit] is a good fit for the fleet; it has a clean panel design. We are looking forward to having a standard glass panel layout in the fleet; our students will benefit from standardization and our avionics maintenance costs will be lower. Over the past few years, our program has been on a planned growth path. In August 2022, Flying Magazine gave Iowa Lakes a high ranking, and we plan to live up to that mark.”
