October 8, 2020 – The FAA has issued its final ruling on a proposed AD addressing reports of cracks in the lower forward cabin doorpost bulkhead of certain Cessna 172, 182, 206, and 210 aircraft. The agency issued an NPRM in February 2018 and an SNPRM in June 2020.

During the comments period on the SNPRM, the inspection interval or 36 months was questioned with the commenter stating this was too frequent. The FAA determined that manufacturer guidance and fleet history support the proposed interval.

The AD will go into effect on November 12, 2020, and requires inspection of the affected doorpost. If cracks are found, the appropriate Cessna service kit must be installed.
