A new FAA ruling, the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act, will allow pilots to credit additional flight time to their civil regulatory requirements. The ruling will allow certain flight training and checking for experimental aircraft to be conducted without a letter of deviation, and amends the rules related to logging recent flight experience, flight instructor privileges, and flight training in aircraft with special airworthiness certificates – all effective 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.
