The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will host a listening session in April to gather feedback on potential changes to the process of issuing airman medical certificates.
The FAA is considering a new approach where pilots who submit incomplete examinations or paperwork would receive an initial denial along with clear guidance on what is required for reconsideration. This would provide applicants with a prompt response and a specific list of criteria to meet when reapplying for their medical certificate.
Originally, the FAA planned to implement this change on January 1 but postponed it until March 1. However, before making any final decisions, the agency seeks input from stakeholders. The listening session is set for April 23 at the FAA headquarters in Washington, D.C., with details on how to attend both in person and remotely to be shared in the coming weeks.
