Parts manufacturer McFarlane Aviation Products has issued a service bulletin for replacement aileron hinges with part No. MC0523816-1 for Cessna 150, 152, 170, 172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 205, and 210 models. Hinges covered by this service bulletin fall under lot numbers JO55493, JO55519, JO56823, JO57775, and JO60003 released between February 22, 2019, and January 3, 2020.
The affected hinges have been found to have material defects that could lead to cracking of the hinge. Disassembly and inspection of the hinge is mandatory within the next 25 flight hours or the next 6 months, whichever comes first. If cracks or defects are detected in the hinge, it must be removed and replaced.
McFarlane also stated that it will issue credits of $50 for all hinges inspected and an additional $40 for hinges replaced as a result of the inspection.
