Hi Cessna Folks!
My name is Bob Hart and if you've been at all active on the Avionics Forum in the last two years, you have seen my Posts.
After 16 years as Senior Avionics Consultant at (first) Eastern Avionics and last 5 years with APG Eastern Avionics, I have left APG to semi-retire.
I will continue to be a source for good avionics advice on the Cessna Forum. I have a new Website called www.AvionixHelp.com Check it out. Hello Bob. I have a MAC-1700 VTX that suddenly seems to have a "dead spot" in the volume control. By that I mean if it is in a certain volume range, I seem to no longer be able to hear anything. The problem is I don't always know it. I've had a couple of occasions where I've been chatting away with ATC only to have the frequency go quiet. Then I go to my COM2 (a Narco 12D which has been very faithful) only to hear ATC barking away trying to get a hold of me! I like the MAC, quirky as it is it's in my #1 nav comm spot but now I can't trust it. I blasted some contact cleaner in the volume control a while back but I will still get the dead spot. Any ideas what I can do?

JA Aircenter in IL works on the MAC-1700. (630) 584-3200 Ask for Dave in Avionics!
