New member. I just joined recently hoping to find some answers.  I have a 1980 mod 172RG w/180 hp, mid time engine, that I bought about six months ago and I really enjoy flying. BUT, I cannot get close to the cruise performance airspeed that the POH or any posted data indicates that it should. I have flown it from Texas to Colorado and back and on a number of shorter trips at various altitudes and power settings and 125kts is about max on a good day 120 is more normal. I bought it from a friend that has a 182 and he says he had the same problem with it and the 182. I'm just wondering if this is normal, and if it is, under what conditions is the listed performance data gathered. This is my first plane so I didn't know if this was an issue with others.
